Art Curriculum: An Overview

The study of visual arts in the curriculum enables students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills while nurturing creativity. Studio performances in the disciplines of drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking provide each student the opportunity to explore new media, tools and techniques and to expand the scope of their imagination. Art appreciation along with a basic knowledge of world cultures, art history and careers in art are taught within the framework of these disciplines.

Introduction to the elements and principles of art enables students to give form to his ideas and feelings and to gain aesthetic awareness and art criticism skills. Artistic experiences are provided to develop the creative potential in each child and to allow for maximum individual differences in expression and growth.
